Starting their Euro qualifier with a defeat, Tricolorii have done quite well after that first match. Following their loss against Sweden, Cosmin Contra’s side have been able to collect two wins and one draw.
Romania defeated Faroe Islands, drawing against Norway and recently beat Malta. Contra will be hoping their latest results can be a good morale booster ahead of their clash against Spain.

La Furia Roja have been doing very well in their Euro qualifiers campaign so far. Under head coach, Roberto Moreno, who took over from Luis Enrique recently, La Furia Roja have won their last five international fixtures in all competition.
Their latest qualifier match was against Sweden which Spain won comfortably with a 3-0 scoreline. Enrique’s departure might be slightly troubling La Roja but they will be in a confident mood going into the midweek tie.
Contra will have to prepare his team without at least two important names with Chipciu and Bancu being unavailable. The former has to serve his suspension for Thursday tie, while the latter is still injured.
Nevertheless, Tricolorii still have a pretty solid option with Hagi playing slightly behind the front two. Romania are set to play Keseru and Puscas as their two duo up front in an attempt to break down Spain’s defense.
La Furia Roja have more absentee to handle for this midweek encounter with more injury issues. Moreno has to prepare his squad without Morata, Asensio, Isco and Inigo Martinez who are all injured.
AC Milan star, Suso, could be given a starting role up front alongside Alcacer and Oyarzabal. Meanwhile, Rodri might also get a starting role in midfield with Saul and Busquets.
Head to Head Records:
In their last two previous meetings, Romania actually edged Spain with one win and one draw.
Their most recent battle happened in a friendly back on March 28, 2016 which ended in a goalless draw.
The home side will try to put on a solid display and take at least one point in front of their loyal fans. However, Romania must acknowledge that they should put on a strong display and not making too many mistakes.
Spain themselves will still target three points despite having to play away as they are confident with their qualities. La Furia Roja are still favorite to win, but Romania can potentially surprised Moreno’s squad.
Final Score: 1-2
