Not getting many starts so far this season with Juventus, rumors regarding Rodrigo Betancur’s future starting to spark. According to media in Italy and England, Betancur could be departing the Bianconeri as soon as this January.
The clubs that are keen on his signature are not just any teams but Barcelona and Manchester City. Those two major sides reportedly are monitoring the Uruguayan international’s status and ready to compete.
Still only 22-year-old, Betancur is an interesting talent, who could play many roles in the midfield area. His versatility is certainly something that makes him an exciting opportunity for the likes of Barca and City.
Having many 30 plus players in their midfield, Barca could really use another quality youngster for that area. The former Boca Juniors’ star has the skill set to play in a more defensive or offensive roles.
Considering his age and talent, Betancur could be a good option to play along with Frenkie de Jong and Arthur. Their youthful combination could lead Barca’s midfield for years to come.
As for City, recent injuries that hit Rodri plus the age of Fernandinho could be the two main reasons for getting the Uruguay international. The 22-year-old’s versatile play can easily put him playing in that defensive midfielder role or a move offensive position.
It remain to be seen on whether Juve are really going to sell one of their future asset. However, if the offers are big, the Turin giant will most likely consider it.
