PSG manager Galtier defends PSG’s summer signings

Paris Saint-Germain was quite busy throughout the previous summer’s transfer window to strengthen its roster. Renato Sanches, Vitinha, Carlos Soler, and Fabian Ruiz were all acquired by PSG on long-term contracts to overhaul the depth chart at the back of its midfield.

Many seasoned PSG players, according to L’Equipe, are not necessarily happy with the team’s summer acquisitions.Ā

According to reports, players like Lionel Messi are “unhappy” with PSG’s arrivals from the summer transfer window and think the roster’s quality has declined “compared to past years.”

Christophe Galtier, the manager of PSG, took some time during a press conference on Friday to defend the team’s acquisitions.

Galtier stated, “I certainly see the statements. The PSG jersey is challenging to wear. Even more so if you came in late and were a foreigner.”Ā

“The history of PSG demonstrates that great players have had far more time than people realise to adjust.”Ā

“Carlos Soler and Fabian Ruiz were the last to arrive. They were late with all aspects of their preparation, adaptation, and housing. Finding their level takes some time for them.”Ā

“We’re referring to players from other countries. On the other hand, everyone had it in their mouths for the first three months except Vitinha, who is going through a terrible time.”

Reports: More tensions between Galtier & Campos

Following his altercation in the dressing room before the match against Monaco, technical adviser Luis Campos infuriated Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier.

Campos barged into the dressing room in the second half of PSG’s game against Monaco last week, with the club losing 3-1. According to L’Equipe, the director lost his temper and vented his rage at the team’s performance, which irked Brazilian stars Marquinhos and Neymar.

Campos’ actions, however, infuriated more than just them, as coach Galtier believes it is not his responsibility to address the team at halftime.

Christophe Galtier at risk of Paris Saint-Germain sack?

According to reports, the position of Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier is in jeopardy due to the French champions’ decline in performance.

Although their play has been far from ideal since the New Year, PSG has 54 points from 23 games this season to lie five points ahead of Marseille at the top of the league.

PSG has already been eliminated from the Cup de France by Marseille this month, and they also lost the first leg of their Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

PSG lost three games in a row across all competitions after losing to Bayern in the middle of the week for the first time since 2011.

Galtier has a contract with the French champions through the end of the following season, but RMC Sport reports that the 56-year-old’s future with the club is now in doubt.

According to the report, PSG’s owners have not yet discussed dismissing Galtier. They will do so if performance does not improve over the next several weeks.

On March 8, Les Parisiens must overcome a one-goal deficit at the Allianz Arena to maintain their chances of winning a trophy in Europe.Ā

If they suffer a second Champions League exit, Galtier’s tenure is not anticipated to continue long.
