Napoli 2-0 Atalanta Highlights
Napoli’s third successive H2H victory required patience en route to a 2-0 win against Atalanta in Serie A.
Napoli displayed early attacking intent and determination to bounce back from their second SA defeat this season as they faced Juan Musso’s stellar goalkeeping. Matteo Politano’s early effort was saved at the near post, while Musso denied Khvicha Kvaratskhelia a shot on goal after a skillful run.
Despite their early attacking intent, Napoli struggled to find their rhythm and the home supporters showed a slight sense of concern as Matteo Politano was denied by the goalkeeper again. Meanwhile, Atalanta suffered a blow as Berat Djimsiti was forced off due to injury before the break, and Gian Piero Gasperini’s two halftime substitutions hinted at his dissatisfaction with La Dea’s performance.
Despite missing a couple of good chances in the second half, Victor Osimhen played a crucial role in Napoli’s win by setting up Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s goal, which brought relief and jubilation to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Kvaratskhelia’s moment of brilliance, reminiscent of Napoli’s Argentine hero, saw him elegantly create space for himself and smash the ball past Musso for his 20th goal contribution in SA.
Napoli extended their lead with a header from Amir Rrahmani, securing a comfortable win against Atalanta and maintaining their dominant position at the top of the SA table, having won nine of their last 10 league matches. In contrast, Atalanta’s goal drought extended to three consecutive league games, marking their first such run since October 2018.
