Manchester United trigger contract extensions for Rashford, Shaw, Fred & Dalot

Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and Fred have contracts that Manchester United has exercised one-year options to extend through the end of the 2023–24 season.

Man United trigger extension clause for quartet

Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, and Fred’s contracts have all been extended by Manchester United for one additional year, according to The Athletic.

With their initial contracts expiring at the end of the season, the four would have been free to begin discussions with other clubs when the transfer window begins next month. Still, United has bought themselves extra time to discuss the futures of those players.

Since his comeback this season, Rashford has been heavily linked with moving away from Old Trafford, with Real Madrid and PSG showing interest in the United youth star.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a crucial player in Erik ten Hag’s squad since regaining his form, scoring eight goals in 19 appearances across all competitions.

He contributed significantly to England’s World Cup quarterfinal run. He finished the competition as the Three Lions’ joint-top goal scorer with three goals.

Rashford must now be persuaded to commit his long-term future to United, or they risk losing him next summer.

Left-back Shaw, another player for England in Qatar, joined United from Southampton in 2014 and has since played 228 times for the club.

Right-back Dalot from Portugal and midfielder Fred from Brazil has been with the team since 2018.

Manchester United to offer Davi De Gea new contract on lower terms

Manchester United is negotiating a new contract with David de Gea.

The Red Devils are reportedly determined to keep De Gea at United on less favorable terms, according to Laurie Whitwell (The Athletic).

According to the report, David de Gea’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire at the end of this campaign. However, United and the Spaniards are now in contract negotiations.

United would prefer the 32-year-old goalkeeper sign a new contract with less favorable conditions rather than extending his current contract, which pays him £375,000 a week, by another year.

This season, the 32-year-old has excelled. He has made a concerted effort to play sweeper-keeper and pass out from the back, enabling United to play a higher defensive line.

Jadon Sancho remains absent from the Man United squad ahead of the carabao cup return

Following his absence from Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match against Burnley, Jadon Sancho’s exile from the Manchester United roster seemed destined to continue.

In preparation for the Red Devils return to action following the World Cup break, manager Erik ten Hag assembled a 25-person group at Carrington on Tuesday. Still, the 22-year-old was not one of them.

Sancho was not chosen by England for the competition and was instead put on a personal regimen in the Netherlands after Ten Hag determined he was “not in the suitable condition or fitness state” to go with the team on its most recent two-match tour of Spain.

On the trip, Ten Hag told reporters, “I have spoken with Jadon several times. We are working on getting him back as soon as possible while he is on a physical program, but I cannot predict when that will be.”
