Liverpool vs Fulham Preview, Squad Report & Prediction

Wednesday’s midweek meeting between Fulham and Liverpool at Anfield will allow Liverpool to extend their winning streak in the Premier League to five games.

Team Form

Liverpool

Liverpool secured a thrilling 4-3 victory against Tottenham at Anfield, with an incredible start that saw them take a three-goal lead within the first 15 minutes through Curtis Jones, Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.

However, Tottenham staged an impressive comeback as Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, and Richarlison levelled the scores. Lucas Moura’s mistake assisted Diogo Jota’s last-gasp winner, leaving Spurs fans potentially in line for a second round of refunds in two weeks.

The Premier League match saw yet another officiating controversy. Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, took issue with the referee, Paul Tierney, accusing him of harbouring a bias against his team.

However, despite their recent success, Liverpool still faces an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League. They trail behind Manchester United by seven points, with one more game played. Klopp remains pessimistic about their chances, especially since his team has conceded at least one goal in their last five matches.

Fulham

Man City defeated Fulham 2-1, with Haaland scoring his 50th goal of the season from the spot. Carlos Vinicius equalized for Fulham, but Julian Alvarez scored a stunning second for City, who survived two penalty appeals.

Although Fulham put in a valiant effort in their recent match, they suffered a second consecutive defeat which has dealt a blow to their hopes of qualifying for Europe.

The team currently sits in 10th place in the Premier League table, five points ahead of Crystal Palace and five behind Brentford, both of whom have played more games.

Despite several impressive victories over Everton and Leeds United, Fulham lost seven of their last nine matches. The team still needs to keep a clean sheet since February, which is a concerning statistic ahead of their upcoming game against Liverpool at Anfield.

Squad Report

Liverpool

In a surprising turn of events, Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp, has become the latest addition to the team’s treatment room. He reportedly strained a muscle while celebrating their recent victory.

As Klopp awaits a diagnosis for his injury, Liverpool must continue to deal with the absences of Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bajcetic due to knee and adductor issues, respectively.

Roberto Firmino and Naby Keita also deal with muscular problems, requiring further assessment.

In addition, Thiago Alcantara was notably absent from the team’s latest matchday squad. He was seen limping towards the benches, indicating that he may also be dealing with an injury.

Fulham

Captain Tim Ream and midfielder Andreas Pereira suffered injuries during the game, causing some concern for the team.

Adding to their woes, Aleksandar Mitrovic is suspended, and Layvin Kurzawa is out with a knee injury.

Meanwhile, Willian’s availability for the next match is also doubtful due to a thigh injury.

Liverpool’s expected starting lineup:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Tsimikas; Henderson, Fabinho, Jones; Salah, Gakpo, Jota

Fulham’s expected starting lineup:

Leno; Tete, Diop, Adarabioyo, Robinson; Reed, Palhinha, Cairney; Wilson, Vinicius, Solomon
