Lionel Messi sits on the precipice of a career-altering move. With his contract up, he needs to decide on what his next move could be. With the signings of Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay looking to join, Messi could be tempted to stay at Barcelona. MLS Club Inter Miami are one that are looking for his signature.
Messi has always hoped to play in the MLS, and live the American life. Reports have predicted Messi to sign a 2 year contract with Barcelona and have an option to sign for Inter Miami in 2023.
Inter Miami owner Jorge Mas told Miami Herald, “David and I have been working really hard, we have aspirations of bringing the best players here and Leo Messi is a generational player, arguably the best player of all time.”
“I am optimistic Messi will play in an Inter Miami shirt because I think it will complete the legacy of the greatest player in our generation and will meet with the ambitions of the owners of Inter Miami to build a world-class team.”
Messi previously admitted his interest in playing in the States. “I always said that I have the impression that I would like to enjoy the experience of living in the United States, of living in that league and that life, but if it happens or not I don’t know,” the Argentine told La Sexta.
Lionel Messi is holding out to see the transfers Barcelona make in the window to put together a squad worthy of winning the La Liga and Champions League.
