We can examine some additional differential choices as Double Gameweek 19 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) approaches.
Chelsea and Fulham will play twice in Gameweek 19. But unlike us, FPL managers have yet to rush to sign players from both teams with the same enthusiasm.
Here are our picks for the five differentials in Gameweek 19.
Kenny Tete (£4.4m, Fulham) vs. Leicester (A), Chelsea (H)
Tete has been one of Fulham’s top players since the World Cup and a regular in Marco Silva’s lineup when fit. He contributed to Joao Palhinha’s game-winning goal in Gameweek 18.
Among all defenders, he is second only to Andy Robertson with 0.72 xGI (expected goal involvement) during the past two matches. Tete is an explosive, short-term differential option for in-form Fulham’s two strong matches.
Tete may have twice as many opportunities to score a major goal in Gameweek 19 because Fulham is the team with a double-game week. He is in team of just 0.3% of all FPL managers.
Harvey Barnes (£6.8m, Leicester City) vs. Fulham (H)
While James Maddison (£8.1m), his teammate, receives most of the attention in the FPL, Harvey Barnes (£6.8m) frequently flies under the radar.
The winger has scored five goals in his previous 10 league outings, though, and has been turning in some standout performances lately.
In fact, since the beginning of his impressive run in Gameweek 9, he has amassed 51 points, surpassing all other FPL midfielders except for Mohamed Salah and Miguel Almiron, as well as the Arsenal quartet of Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Saka.
No Leicester City player has taken more shots inside the box this season (26) than Barnes, who has also created seven major chances, touches the penalty box 67 times, and received 218 passes in the final third.
Kaoru Mitoma (£4.9m, Brighton) vs. Everton (A)
Only three Premier League midfielders have more than Mitoma’s three shots on goal since the World Cup: Mo Salah, Marcus Rashford, and Heung-min-Son.
The Japan winger appeared to be Brighton’s most dangerous attacking asset and was continually bothering the league’s second-best defense while scoring once and having another goal disallowed against Arsenal.
In their last five league games, Brighton has averaged 2.6 goals per game. They now travel to Everton, a team hovering around the relegation zone. Less than two FPL managers own Mitoma, who has two goals and assists in his last four league appearances.
Raheem Sterling (£9.7m, Chelsea) vs. Man City (H), Fulham (A)
Since joining Chelsea from Manchester City in the summer, Raheem Sterling (£9.7 million) hasn’t been in his best form, scoring just four goals and dishing out two assists in 14 league games.
However, the England winger assisted Kai Havertz’s Gameweek 17 goal and scored against Nottingham Forest the following day.
While Sterling has yet to escape Graham Potter’s adjustments thus far entirely, he has started both of Chelsea’s games following the restart.
He has given his teammates four opportunities over that period, more than any other Blues player. Only two shots within the box have been recorded, despite Sterling’s prior performances implying he can provide a significant goal threat.
Hugo Bueno (£3.9m, Wolves) vs. Aston Villa (A)
Bueno was fortunate to earn points for a clean sheet against Man United since he was replaced before Marcus Rashford scored. Still, he is now securing a starting position in Julen Lopetegui’s greatly strengthened Wolves squad.
Bueno, an attacking wing-back who came close to scoring against Everton in Gameweek 17, is a cheap option. He will score consistently, even if he sits on the bench most weeks.
The wolves’ next two games are against quality opponents West Ham and Aston Villa. If Bueno scores more points, his ownership and price may significantly increase.
