In a surprising turn of events, AFC Bournemouth ended their eight-game winless streak against Liverpool with a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to Philip Billing’s 28th-minute goal and Mohamed Salah’s missed penalty in the second half.

Liverpool’s hopes of continuing their dominant form were dashed as they suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Bournemouth, despite an exciting start to the game that saw Virgil van Dijk’s goalbound header cleared off the line and Cody Gakpo’s effort disallowed for offside, just days after their impressive 7-0 victory over Manchester United.

Bournemouth broke their goal drought against Liverpool at home by the half-hour mark with Philip Billing finding the net, as Dango Ouattara set up the goal with a driving run and cut-back, leaving the Reds unable to respond before half-time, prompting Jurgen Klopp to bring on Diogo Jota in the second half, who made an immediate impact by forcing a save from goalkeeper Neto.

Despite Liverpool’s efforts to equalize, Mohamed Salah missed a penalty in the second half and Bournemouth held on to their narrow lead, ultimately claiming their first home clean sheet of the year and denying Liverpool a chance to level the score.

Bournemouth’s crucial victory lifts them out of the relegation zone and off the bottom of the table, while Liverpool remain in fifth place.
