Borussia Dortmund are considering making a move to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer this summer.
According to Bild, Dortmund see the Austrian as an option to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
Sabitzer is deemed surplus to requirements at Bayern and has been made available for transfer. The German champions are hoping to get ā¬15m for the 29-year-old.
After failing to win the title last season, Dortmund have had a difficult summer transfer window so far. Deals for targets like IvĆ”n Fresneda and Edson Ćlvarez have fallen through.
Sabitzer could provide an experienced option in midfield. He has proven Bundesliga pedigree, having previously starred for RB Leipzig.
The Austrian spent the second half of last season on loan at Manchester United. But with United looking at other midfielders, he has returned to Bayern.
Facing increased competition from new signing Konrad Laimer, Sabitzer looks set to leave the Allianz Arena again. A transfer before Dortmund’s pre-season tour could happen soon.
Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl wants to add to the squad before the US tour starts on Monday. Capturing Sabitzer from their title rivals Bayern would be a smart move.
