



Armenia gobbled up by tricky Turkey
Turkey won their opening UEFA European Championship qualifying match against Armenia 2-1, despite an early setback, maintaining their impressive away form.
Despite failing to convince Henrikh Mkhitaryan to come out of retirement, the new Eagles coach Oleksandr Petrakov’s side took an early lead in their opening Euros qualification match, with Ozan Kabak’s own goal making it 1-0 against Turkey.
Following Armenia’s early lead, Turkey launched an onslaught and managed to equalize before half-time through midfielder Orkun Kƶkçü, who scored his 13th goal of the season by drilling a shot through three defenders into the bottom left corner.
With the game hanging in the balance, Turkey seized their chance to take the lead when Enes Ćnal found Kerem AktürkoÄlu with a clever pass after being fouled, and the substitute ran through unopposed to score the winning goal against Armenia.
Stefan Kuntz watched from the sidelines as Turkey held on for a hard-fought victory over Armenia, taking the first step towards qualifying for the Euro 2024 finals in his home country and maintaining their perfect record against their neighbors.
